Sunday School -- Our Mission and Goals
1. OUR MISSION
Guided by the Lord, our Sunday School seeks to prepare children for lives of regeneration, i.e. lives of growing, spiritual awareness and joy, based on Biblical values of kindness, faithfulness, integrity, self-responsibility and service to others.
2. STRATEGY & GOALS -- L.O.V.E.
Our strategy for fulfilling this mission is known as “L.O.V.E.”, which stands for Learning, Openness, Vitality and Emerging leadership:
Learning
Regeneration is a process of life-long learning, a growing encounter and maturing relationship with the Lord in his present Coming in the Spirit.
Therefore our Sunday School seeks to foster a love for learning about the Lord and His Holy Word that will teach what is truly loving and wise, through the provision of compelling, age-appropriate learning experiences that are creative, challenging and fun.
Openness
The heavenly reality is a unity in diversity and the way to heaven is by many paths toward the one God known by many names.
Therefore our Sunday School is open to all children as a safe, affirming place that welcomes and acknowledges their individual differences and also provides them with opportunities to learn about people and paths different from their own.
Vitality
Everything of religion has to do with life and the life of religion is to do good, with passion and joy.
Therefore our Sunday School fosters a sense of immediacy and relevance by grounding its teaching and process in the life-experience of the child and by encouraging the child to explore their gifts and apply their learning, thereby laying the basis for a useful and joy-filled life.
Emerging leadership
The Lord is coming now in the Spirit, that those who receive Him might be fulfilled in serving His purpose, the creation of a new world, the New Jerusalem.
Therefore our Sunday School provides regular opportunities for children to take on increasing responsibilities in the life of the church that are recognized and celebrated by all and which will prepare them for adult ministries of leading and evangelizing.
